How come /a/ doesnโt make OC for anime/manga anymore? Did all the creative people leave after the site downtime?
Most left years ago since the boards been infested by spics.
>>280896483 (OP)why would anyone want to go on a nazi board with e-stalkers, when they can get paid and respected on twitter?
It's not like if you get honest feedback here, everyone here performatively acts like a right-wing dick

>>280896483 (OP)It's because of liberals, zoomers, phones and modern society.

>>280896483 (OP)All the 2000s-era otaku who used to populate this site killed themselves, and I guess the new /a/ just isnโt talented enough to fill that void.

>>280896483 (OP)Why would i make art for retards that flood the catalog with storytimes and generals for dead series

>>280896675>storytime schizoyikes
>>280896483 (OP)Because 90% of twittert art is now just haha so funny meme/reference art combined with currently popular anime/gacha character
>>280896658>killed themselvesReally? That's sad.
>>280896670No, it doesnโt. If you really want to cope, itโs at a significantly decreased frequency compared to a decade ago and even more so compared to 2 decades. Itโs like when people post threads of old screencaps, notice how none of the screencaps are from the last decade.
>>280896840Then how about you do it?
>>280896483 (OP)So post your OC then, faggot
>>280896636literally the whole internet has to deal with that but I am sure some oc still gets made.

>>280896483 (OP)>waaah I didn't see any OC on page 1, that means there's no OC!!! look at these threadshots I saved from reddit, they clearly show that 4chan used to have billions of new OC pieces in every thread every single day! It's so over, no one's entertaining me!

>>280896483 (OP)I'd wager that 80% of all board traffic these days is from cancerous phoneposters who are also redditfags and possibly Canadians.
The people who do actually like making OC don't post their OC on 4chan because they know some faggot reddit tourist will screenshot it and post it to their favorite cancerous sub to get internet points, which is likely the only thing sustaining their depraved, ADHD-addled mind.
That's also why you don't see a lot of interesting greentext on 4chan anymore; too many redditfags sniping posts for r/greentext or r/4chan (or both)
tl;dr it's because everyone's a canadian redditfag phoneposter summer tourist
>>280897452/r/anime is pretty objectively in a much better state than /a/, I don't think anyone else is to blame when this place is the worst there is. Allowing generals and dailies to be spammed everywhere is what killed it and stomped out all discourse. There's nothing interesting here, I feel coming here now is like arguing with asshurt little kids and if you try to make a fun thread someone will just desperately try to slide it within an hour while generals are up for like 6 days straight.
>>280896675>no issue with the shonenshit generalshmmmmmm
>>280896483 (OP)It's hard to make OC on a phone.
How about other 00s anime forums? Like animesuki for example.
>>280896885Who said I donโt?
>>280897452That or they take it to xitter for show
>>2808975786 days really isn't a long time; on the slower boards you would have threads stay up for over a month, sometimes several months.
The real issue is the quality of posts has decreased. Too many fucking phone posters and tourists. I don't recall it being like this even as early as 10 years ago, though maybe I'm just remembering things incorrectly.
All I know is that there are too many phone posters, too many little children on my japanese cartoon board. Too many fucking avatarfags and ritualposters, too. I wouldn't mind longer generals if the post quality was higher.
>>280897603He has already mentioned generals for dead series.
>>280897452or twitter
or youtube
it's actually crazy how many youtube "reading 4chan greentext" channels there are. 100% they are all run by indians because they all use AI voices to read the posts, and they all use the same royalty free music for the background.
>>280897758>6 days really isn't a long timeYes it is. A board where threads die in an hour shouldn't have 6 day old threads. And yet some threads are even older, the one piece dailies have lasted over a week. If the activity here is that low then it should take literal days for ANY thread to exit the catalogue but it's quite the opposite. This indicates that /a/ is mostly just doing the bare minimum and bumping generals. Face it, this board is dogshit now and you ruined it with your gay little insular clubs. Why should I care about a board that's mostly just people soullessly bumping threads on a treadmill? You're like lab rats on a wheel.
>>280896483 (OP)only shill farms make OC anymore
there is no quality shows to make OC for. I translate and keep on top of merch but why bother translating for ungrateful people and shows I don't give a fuck on? I'll just keep have my interest in my own shit and buy magazines for myself.
As for non TL:
>People don't know how to roleplay
>people don't pirate PS to slap together edits
>/a/ traffic has decreased 100% compared to years at it's height.
you could have threads with 200+ IP but now based on typing style you most likely get a max of 20-30 unique people
>>280897758no the posters back then where just as bad, if not at times having worse opinions. the anime haters on /tg/ come to mind, however the main difference is there was NOT constant schizos dogging every single thread, and the most annoying people, tripniggers, where easy to ignore
>>280897919>there is no quality shows to make OC for.>implying that the funniest old OC wasn't made for shit shows like anotherAnyways media in general is shit yet people still make oc on other boards.
>>280897942>no the posters back then where just as badI remember a thread from 2018(?) making a chart for important anime released in the 10s. The thread had actual discussion and somewhat interesting arguments. Every attempt at such a thread in the last 5 years or so failed because the board is filled with schizos and autists. Even something as banal as that can't be replicated on modern /a/.
>>280896483 (OP)>after the site downtimeIt's been the better part of a decade at this point. Even really simple things like making templates by cutting out a screen on a device a character is holding for "what is he/she watching?" type stuff is utterly pointless because the election/gamergate tourist crowd do not participate in anything besides shitposting to try to turn this board into /v/ for anime.
>>280897902What exactly is the issue?
>>280897879these days they don't go on 4chan anymore, they either copy stories from reddit and dress them up in 4chan paint or they straight up use AI to generate a story.
>>280897964>Anyways media in general is shit yet people still make oc on other boards.and it's dogshit basedjak\pepe edits 99% of the time. having no oc is both a curse and a blessing.
>>280898107My bad. Yeah, it's all modern /a/ but it still had different levels of decay.
>>280897942It's all about the schizoposters, the avatarfags/tripfags, and the ritualposters. They ruin every thread they are in and make discussion impossible.
If you want to see a prime example of the cancer killing /a/, go to any /csm/ thread and slowly scroll down. It's particularly bad for shonen series, which seem to attract the most braindead spics on earth, but occasionally you will find other series with the same posts.
>>280896813Killed themselves, managed to get families and left or got old and unmotivated.
The current state of /a/ is few oldfags who only cry about old good/new bad, zoomers who pretend to be oldfags, shonenspics, reddit/xitter tourists and some schizo troons e-roleplaying in their respective general.
>unironically going to or paying attention to reddit
>thinking it's even relevant when discord and twitter exists
>>280898134imho thats not as bad as the fact that the jannies will take their side after they dog pile you for doing anything that was allowed in the old days such as the OP and OC,
>>280898171The entire reason reddit was despised in the old days is that people were reposting OC there so the current version of 4chan that doesn't create anything new really has no reason to fake superiority lol
>>280898067How is it mathematically possible to have threads fly off the catalogue in 1 hour but have week old threads? Instead of dying gracefully /a/ is going out like a flaming bag of dogshit left on someone's doorstep lol
>>280897063Examples of this happening?
>>280896483 (OP)Not interested in creating for a shounenspic infested board.
>>280898220Yeah. Hating other sites stopped making sense when /a/ became saturated with generals

>>280898303It's the modern internet, every board and site is filled with spics and they aren't even the worst specimen.
>>280898303Surely you are creating somewhere else then, right? Right?
>>280898306hating reddit stopped making sense when 90 percent of 4chan boards became "twitter ragebait repost central"
>>280898333Surely ignoring the problem will fix it
isnt it weird how these threads are always filled with the lowest of the low, constantly bickering to try and paon an impression that everything is already over
you'd almost think it's on purpose!
>onimai avatarfag is already here
>>280898356True, that too. I was mostly thinking from /a/'s perspective but the rest of the site is in even worse shape
>>280896483 (OP)Artists have other places where they can get attention for their oc.
>>280898281Different threads cover different things. A chapter dump thread for a new release is going to have a very high volume of posters in a very short time, likely hitting the bump limit within an hour or two and slowly reaching page 10 and then finally getting pruned.
But a general with no real theme for discussion sees a much slower post volume as there isn't anything earth-shattering to talk about. Personally, I prefer having a general to contain all the shitposting. It's very similar to a "questions that don't deserve their own thread" thread that you sometimes see on other boards like /fit/, /biz/ or /k/
>>280898381>oh yes I'm paying attention to the problem really hard>watch me pay attention to it hnng>yup now it's fixed no need to thank me
>>280896483 (OP)There was that 1 paint thread where people tried to guess anime characters based on the color palette. It was fun.
>>280896483 (OP)some people got sick/grew out of the 4chans general personality and moved on, then came the tourists(plus refugees) that are on a mission to crush whatever made this site worth the time, but they lack a personality so they wear the skin of the website they hate so much. the site is stereotyped and has become flanderized into an echo chamber
>>280896483 (OP)Anime OC peaked with Usenet and Narutoforums(unironically)
>>280898463>A chapter dump thread for a new release is going to have a very high volume of posters in a very short timeIt doesn't though, Kingdom threads struggle to hit 100 posts and that's one of the most popular manga of all time. And then you see a /wsj/ general and it's all people making the same posts they have made 1000x already robotically lmao
>Personally, I prefer having a general to contain all the shitpostingIt shouldn't be here at all, 90% of the board shouldn't be containment. That's not how containment works. It's just a total lack of gatekeeping. Any thread that hits bump limit is just schizo spam. When you let these people nest here there's consequences and now you're reaping the result of that.
>>280898381The only way to even begin fixing it is to institute gatekeeping measures. Any time a tourist from /v/ posts with racist/sexist slurs, ridicule them.
"You are a tourist from /v/"
"Kill yourself back to /pol/"
These are the phrases that can restore board quality
>>280898381It's literally impossible to fix /a/ and 4chan in general. The people you hate make for the majority of this site so you can't stop them. Also the moderation won't change either since this is just a business for hiro.
>>280898532Let's start with the meta nest.
>>280898513the only places where you can even have genuine, non-south east asian shitskin infested anime discussion are old forums where the median poster is a middle aged electrical engineer from wisconsin or something
So, what, do you want us to post our OC?
I made this bane edit for Chi during the winter season https://youtu.be/Rk49HHCFGRI
I was the main lead for the Apocalypse Hotel 4gaijin collage last season
OC is only made if you make something. Be the change you want to see in the threads
It's not about /a/, it's not about 4chan, it's about internet landscape changing in general. Things will simply never get better because genie is out of the bottle
>>280898608You racist pieces of shit are the low quality posters with nothing of value to contribute either to discussion of anime or to society
>>280898608>old forumsWhich ones? 00s forums like Gamefaqs and animesuki?
>>280898532Kingdom is a bad example. That series is like 800+ chapters now, so hype has died down a lot. 100 posts in a thread probably means there is actual discussion going on and not schizoposting or ritualposting (though I can't say for certain because I personally haven't been in a Kingdom release thread in over a year)
But for series that are more hyped up right now, either because they are in pivotal arcs or because they just got an anime adaptation, they will hit bump limit very quickly.
I would also prefer not having any of the shitposting but what can be done about it? If janny started banning shitposters people would just get more pissed off that janny is banning their heckin board culturino (aka cancer)
latinx shitposters who want to ruin everything call it funposting.
>>280896483 (OP)>Did all the creative people leaveThey left when n/a/ruto happened. Self moderation was lost that day
>>280898563/v/ has the exact same issues as /a/ does and it has shitty /wsj/ generals just like this place does. The solution is to just make anyone who posts in a naruto or one piece thread carry a star next to their posts for the rest of the day. If you post in the retard general you get the Jewish star. Watch how quickly the shitposting drops off.
>>280898566>this is just a business for hiro.Hiro is bleeding advertiser bux, rapeape already cost him 4chans biggest advertisers which is why only discords are advertised now for half a penny a click. You literally got websites that sell 20lbs of ass and pussy abandoning this place because it's too volatile.
Check other media boards as well. They are all filled with spics and indians, some even worse than /a/. It's truly over.
You can always hide generals, mangadumps and enjoy your remaining dogshit bait schizo threads.
>gatekeeping
The legendary gatekeepers who appear only in those dogshit meta threads. The same gatekeepers whos posts consist of /v/ buzzwords and sharty slang.
>OC
Bake your own OCs.
No one is obligated to entertain you with OCs because "this is what you supposed to do".
>>280898724Nope, just make slurs an automatic ban. Problem solved.
>>280898672>But for series that are more hyped up right nowKingdom IS a hyped series, it's so hyped its finally getting an official English release in November. It's popular everywhere but here. You say it's slow because it has 800+ chapters but then you got people doing dailies for 1000 chapter manga and endless shonen shit threads. The math doesn't add up. People who care about manga should naturally be reading it, but everyone left here is a toonami tard and doesn't even think about that sort of thing.
>>280898742>Sharty slangThe sharty is full of gem OCs
Well, you dorks, what do you want /a/ to be about?
>>280896483 (OP)I write fanfic but those never mix well with imageboards so I don't talk about them here.

Kill onimai avatarfag to save both /a/ and /v/.
Why is everyone in this manga look so bored, barely show any emotions, and always speak so matter-of-factly? It's like every character was modeled after Spock.

>>280896483 (OP)I popped back in to pay tribute to Hulk Hogan in the Kinnikuman thread but other than that I've almost completely moved on, the lack of sincerity and genuine dialogue amongst the now indiscernible from twitter stream of consciousness that primarily permeates the fabric of the current "culture" no longer yields anything of worth I couldn't simply discuss with friends or even just random people in general, in games on steam or in reality at pubs and taverns or whatever, it's not the 2000's anymore and we're long past the point where 4chan is where you go to discuss shocking obscure internet stuff or however you might contextualize it. /v/ did this. Reddit is better.
>>280896483 (OP)Come to the threads for a good anime/manga and there are usually a few anons making stuff for it. For Thunderbolt Fantasy S4 we made the fucking subs ourselves, and a lot of good images.
>>280900419The problem is the death of the board mono-culture. Used to be that there were things which basically everybody watched. So the whole board was involved with it, and everyone who was willing to make OC was exposed to it. Now everyone is watching their own things, and staying within the threads for those things, you might get one anon in the thread who cares enough to edit an image or draw something. And even if there is a thread with lots of good OC, you wouldn't know because you aren't watching it or exposed to the threads.
>>280900673>/e/ posting really fast and it gets boring./v/ and every media board suffer from that as well. Still, 1 in 5 /v/ threads uses zoomer-speak or is written in broken english.
>>280900664feels like op is in the wrong threads. the quattro posting from gcucks was pretty funny
>>280900717It'd be more accurate to call them /v/bait because the tourists are specifically trying to cultivate an atmosphere of animegate that extends the culture war complaints of gamergate to anime. It's even the same sort of situation where these tourists don't like anime in the first place but feel it necessary to colonize the fandom because it's nerd adjacent in the same way that the gamergate crowd were never the original gamers and hate video games. Obviously the overlap with /pol/ is significant but the things they complain about like censorship or drawing comparisons to Marvel/Disney/Star Wars to signal disapproval are directly taken from /v/ (and twitter and reddit and everywhere else the tourists inhabit in pursuit of culture war).
I have had to pay people to make meme reaction faces that I would have gotten from a random anon for free in the 2010s. Many of the creative people definitely left long ago.
>>280900171>the lack of sincerity and genuine dialogue amongst the now indiscernible from twitter stream of consciousness that primarily permeates the fabric of the current "culture" no longer yields anything of worthIt does suck that the most common replies are brief snarky put-downs or obvious strawmans. -Irony poisoning and the habit of shitting on everything stifles a collaborative, creative atmosphere. I frequent /ic/ and you're more likely to get blood out of a stone than get a decent crit. That board is perpetually assailed with shitty AI bait threads and outright gossip.
Most people, most YOUNG people, aka the kind of people the cranky old millennials are scaring off, would rather use Tiktok and Twitter and share their creative work in private discords.
I don't think people left because the place became too politicized (the whole internet is like that). I think it has more to do with:
- the constant negative media attention
- the poor moderation (incredible how many schizos are running free right now)
- the fact that imageboards, as a medium for discussion, have been superceded by more feature-rich and populous platforms.

Now everyone knows everything is monitored and jannies everywhere, this kills creative spirit in favour of "staying in line" to not "disobey rules" and anything artsy often requires thinking outside the box of rules.
>>280904592Makes you wonder how any art at all could be created in Eastern Bloc
>>280904347Right wingers are the cancer, in society and on 4chan
>>280904676Eastern Bloc art was heavily monitored by the respective authorities and only allowed release after certain "corrections" on moral of the story and conclusions, everything to favour a certain cause, of course.
And even so, if it required too many corrections, despite being good, it could get the artist in personal trouble.
If he was very lucky it would be deemed as slop to throw to the west.
As a counter-balance, if the artist was a true believer, he would get maximum funding from authorities.

Which is ok if you are a doctor or a neurosurgeon doing protocol routine, not the same if you are doing creative OC for /a/ .
>>280896483 (OP)couple reasons. first, the cooldown + captcha thing is cuck shit. that, and imageboards as we know it cannot be popular without getting ruined by retards whose entire personality is built around saying nigger and doxxing people on a whim. chuds can't make art, and the channers that could grew up and don't want to waste time here. people grow, 4chan doesn't.
>>280905578>anon gets to make some OC and share it with other anons which makes him happy>redditor gets to pretend that he made that and diverts the attention of other redditors to him instead of this website It's all positives, complaining about getting your shit getting "stolen" and posted on other websites is just retarded

>>280906121Good lord you just do not stop crying do you
>>280905934there's a difference between celebrating what was and worshiping the ashes of what no longer is. successful nostalgia-oriented media comes from continuing old trends that have yet to lose their luster. the best "nostalgiabait" is a continuation of something that was cut short without realizing its full potential. if that potential was already reached and nobody shuts up about it, it isn't the same.
4chan wasn't "good" necessarily but it was fresh. it stayed fresh for a pretty long time and only started to suck when it became state media in 2011/2012 in the wake of the arab spring. it was over before any of you started browsing.

You say it was fresh, and that's exactly my point. I doubt if in the 2000s for the same reasons I started 4chan back then if received the 4chan of today if would take it as a "cool thing" or "just another website".
Almost all the qualities that made it different are gone and supressed, it's fairly dystopian surveillance databse tier now, no more freedom feels.

But one of the things that got me hooked was to come back after an hour or so and content was gone with new content replacing it.
6 days a thread? this is almost old internet forum tier; back in the day I would've taken this as a sitcom. Only exceptions were maybe some stickies but those were intentional and had a reason.
This used to be EXTREMELY FAST and the only thing keeping coherency was that despite that memes more or less kept the culture together to make up for things disappearing and re-appering at such speed.
For threads/topics lasting 6 days, anywhere else on the internet is preferable really. Even oldschool internet chats are faster than that.
