9S also ends up adding piles upon piles of options to make the internal damage you received become completely irrelevant, because of how easy it becomes to get rid of it.
One of the skills you can get literally makes you lose your internal damage whenever you land a perfect parry, so unless you take a fuckton of misstimed parries in a row (OR youre fighting fuxi & nuwa because they hit like a truck) and THEN get hit before you manage to land a few perfect parries, then its basically an irrelevant mechanic after you acquire that little perk.
All things considered it is infinitely more forgiving for people who suck at pressing buttons deliberately, specially once you combine that with the classic case of "we made an estus clone where healing back to full takes 0 effort"
