Your [Melee Unit] gets fired upon, and doesn't have shields or smoke bombs. What can they do?
Your [Melee Unit] gets charged and they have no guns. What can they do?
Surely the game is balanced, and taking melee units makes sense over just taking as many HSS and Tacticals as possible?
