What are the general thoughts on ffv?

I only picked it up recently but fell in love, the job system is so fun and gives you so much shit to tinker with and test, it might be the first I actually finish, I found 7 not very engaging game-play wise or story wise hugely, so gave up partway through disk 2 I but that was like 8 years ago so eh, I'll probably give it another shot to try and understand the hype.

I'm thinking of trying out ff1 after this, it seems short enough that although it doesn't have jobs, there's lots of room for messing with different party compositions.
