The court of public opinion is a funny thing, it's basically entirely dependent on how popular and well-liked you are, Toby is popular with autistic kids who think he's their friend so they'd find a way to excuse him even if he pirated and shipped an MP3 of an existing song he didn't make in his games as this thread is close to showing, whereas if you took one of the songs he ripped off and altered it the same amount he did or even more, you'd be accused or ripping HIM off

This already happened when YIIK got into hot water for having a line in the game that was copied from a book without being disclosed because people didn't like the creator and were just looking for more reasons to dogpile him, whereas the same exact thing happened in UT and people didn't care or called Toby based when they found out and said the usual "it's just a homage" line
