>The Flash
Stuck in development hell for years. Originally intended to be a part of the original DCEU slate before the failure of Justice League (2017) forced WB to change its structure. Numerous directors were hired and then fired by WB. Eventually entered production under Andy Muschetti. Intended to completely reboot the DCEU through a story inspired by Flashpoint. A bunch of famous shills, including Tom Cruise, praised it as one of the greatest superhero films ever. Marred by pre-release controversy surrounding Ezra Miller assaulting people and kidnapping an autistic girl from her family. Opened to complete failure at the box office and mediocre reviews. Featured a tired old Michael Keaton becoming the real-life version of his character from Birdman and the Flash rescuing a bunch of flying CGI babies. Its story wasn't an adaptation of Flashpoint but just some shitty random bullshit and its weird meta ending didn't reboot the DCEU in any way. Instead, it simply confused matters even further with George Clooney showing up as Batman for some reason. What the fuck was this movie!?
>Blue Beetle
No one saw this.
>Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
The final entry in the DCEU. A sad wet fart of a movie. Very clear that no one wanted to be involved in this. Not James Wan, not Jason Mamoa, not Amber Heard (whose presence in it was surrounded by controversy due to the Depp trial). Completely forgettable schlock that barely generated a profit at the box office despite being a Christmas season release. Final scene is Patrick Wilson eating a cockroach burger. A fitting end to the DCEU.
So there we have it. The DCEU (2013-2023). 10 years of hilarious bullshit. What a fucking ride it was. I can't even say I hated it. I'm kinda glad it happened. It generated a bunch of fond memories, funny memes, hilarious moments, heated discussions and earned its place in the annals of pop culture history. What are your thoughts about this mess?
