That's pretty much been the solution to "fixing" both archers and armors. Just give them a shitload of steroids, so you don't notice they're missing a big toe and their ass is bleeding out. I have to say I'm not a fan of the approach, but fans really push back against anything that would make them actually interesting and unique in my observations.
