It took only 10 years for PC to long surpass consoles when it was dead in the water up to that point. Steam gets more active users in a month than Nintendo gets in a year and only keeps growing, and that's not counting how all the kids have moved on from Nintendo to roblox, minecraft, and fortnite on PC and mobile. PC has none of the drawbacks or risks of consoles that are stuck for nearly a decade even if they flounder. Nintendo is public and only has one hardware line left, they're only kept relevant right now by Disney adults and are one flounder away from their investors eating them alive. They won't have the patience to see their money get pissed away for nearly a decade, waiting for the console generation to end in the vague hopes the next one won't also flounder. Tick tock.
