Half the reason most of them did is because these games got kneecapped by Sony and then Steam to begin with. Gacha was not a significant phenomenon until after 2020 and a lot of people into it are embittered former JP-enthusiast otakus.

Not being able to release on the western e-shops locks them out of 2/3s of the market and ensures their releases have no legs. No matter how you look at it, it's a major blow. Compile Heart basically can't build a base for their most popular IP on Nintendo consoles any more. And yes, the Asian/Japanese side has censorship too, look no further than Tokyo Clanpool and Prison Princess Trapped Allure.

Why would they lie about something like this? They literally told you GOG would not take uncensored Tokyo Clanpool. They tried to go back and patch it and GOG wouldn't let them, so now it has to be an off-site patch. GOG changed their content policies and are now Steam-tier. That's the takeaway.

In all honesty, the odds are low that VISA/MC will deny service over PG games. Every time they've pulled service, it's been over actual explicit adult content. Still, consumer ignorance remains an issue.
