Hybrids don't really lower emissions in a meaningful manner. While battery manufacturing is hardly a net neutral extraction of resources, it's still more preferrable than global warming. And the more use EVs, the more research will be invested in making batteries cheaper, more durable and more eco friendly. Battery technology has come longer in five years than ICE has in decades.
