Someone posted this mp4. It's a voxel based approach with voxels being camera facing quads instead of cubes. You can see how this sort of approach could be further developed to possibly nail the style.

Anything that's done to convert it into an actual game with explorable space and camera control will make some compromises because that AI clip is what the AI hallucinated. It is just a video of a thing that sort of looks like it could be a game.
