That is stupid as fuck. What you call "searching" is just another way of practicing. I guarantee you that once that guy gets used to drawing the same subject he won't even need to do that mess. The only difference between that and trying to draw things in one go is that in one you draw over your mistakes and on the other you simply erase them and try again. Both are valid ways of learning and both have their pros and cons. If every artist out there was forced to draw using the same technique we would miss out on a lot of amazing artists. For an art board, /ic/ is incredibly close-minded.
