This game made me realize i love video games and i want to continue playing them.
Its not perfect but it got me in this death grip for a month that i was fully invested in the world and what was happening. Prior to that i only really played multiplayer shit doom grinding ranked in whatever was semi current and like Bethesda normie rpgs. This game made me explore more rpgs like i played divine divinty, fallout 1/2, wasteland 2-3, ultima 7 pathfinder wotr and kingmaker and the bhaalspawn saga(my new favorite game of all time being bg2) right after this game, i just couldn’t get enough classic rpgs.
Now that i played more rpgs i see its flaws more but i still hold onto that memory of my first playthough when i got out of my seat multiple times at points to think about what was happening, and considered every option.
Maybe it’s now just nostalgia but bg3 didn’t make me feel nearly as much.
Dos2 is special to me, and i still consider it a bigger success in putting crpgs in a new golden age then pillars which even when i was a brand new crpg fan hungry for more bored me
