The Empire is pic related. They do nazi-like stuff or commie-like stuff as each story requires. They're human supremacists (totally ideological and not just to limit costume expenses) which is kind of like nazism. The stories about them violently nationalizing disfavored corporations (Incom) and trying to wipe out belief in religion (the Force) make them sound very communist. They're a generic authoritarian, bureaucratic, militaristic police state that doesn't stick to a single clear and coherent ideology - kind of like the real ones looked in practice from the perspective of outsiders, whatever philosophical stories they told each other while doing it.
