housing isn't more expensive in Germany
the baseline for new constructions is a bit higher, but with labor cost, this average out
housing in cities is just as expensive
the only real difference
renting is typically way cheaper in Germany than it is anywhere comparable in the US

kinda hard finding a house that big though, most houses are typically around ~150sqm (~1350sqft)

but no ACs is absolutely true for some parts, somehow people in Germany hate AC
for a lot of parts you don't need any AC though, as it basically never gets above 30°C
