Starter 1999.
Grew up in rural fuck nowhere, local hardware/paint shop had a small toy section where they would sometimes get Pokemon cards.
The old couple that ran the store randomly brought a single Starter Kit from the cash and carry and I was hooked.
They never had a single MtG product again.
