one of my personal favorite painters, francis bacon, spent his teenage years and presumably most of his 20s too, as a literal manwhore/rentboy. then after twink death, he got into interior design (#justfagthings). he had done some basic bitch watercolors, and other paint stuff for his job. but at ~30 he made his first attempt at a real piece. became one of the biggest postwar painters in a few years time.
granted, he was clearly quite talented, but later starts than you arent impossible or unheard of. i cant imagine lamenting lost time in your 20s desu. its a bit silly imo.

you wanna git gud fast?
gig a lot. join a band. or ideally two. and try and get out of town and doing some dates. you play a show every night for wks, youll learn stuff you simply couldnt learn elsewhere. and youll be far tighter than you couldve gotten from just staying at home and toiling away
