A strange theory about Silver has been on my mind lately, have you noticed how the hatred toward him grows the more he appears in the comics? Some claim Year of Shadow 'showcased' him, but he was barely relevant. Yet this year, the slander has exploded worse than ever. The only difference is his comic portrayal has actually improved from past iterations.
This made me think...people just love tearing him apart at every opportunity. The moment he became a Green Lantern in DC Comics or a sign he was being taken seriously in IDW, the backlash intensified exponentially. It’s as if the fandom can’t stand seeing him succeed.
Now imagine if he got gameplay as a side character in a 3D Sonic game. Would the same cycle repeat? Would fans lash out so viciously that Sega stops using him again? The conclusion is : Silver isn’t cursed, the fandom is. They’re determined to hate him no matter what he does or how well he’s written.
