The "concept" there in unique stories means we're breaking out of the same tiring kidnap loop, not meaning we're going into giant Mario RPG story stuff, which is always there. Mainline was in dire need of the former, which still focuses on gameplay, but it's not the same uninspired A-plot, something new each game like Mario character subseries gives you.
