There's definitely some scale creep (left side minis are newer) but not enough to notice on the gaming table. Unless you plan to put them together in a diorama it shouldn't be a problem.
The armor sets that come in the core box and 1st wave expacs have ball joints for better posing, but require more gap filling because of that, so its a bit of a tradeoff.
If they ever release a 2.0 box (estimated arrival 2047) they'll probably include upscaled armor sets.
