The gag ending was actually the first red flag for retconning old stuff.
Although funny at a first glance, in retrospective it already showed a dangerous tendency: rewriting stuff because it doesn't align with the regid perception the author has of the characters. Nemlei got angry that people were memeing the hag to beloved status and she decided she had to shit on her to make 100% sure everyone knows the true Canon & Correct™ interpretation of her character. Which is both pathetic and sad.
The dev basically got butthurt some fans liked the hag and she made a character assassination. Notice that in Chapter 3 she gets so dehumanized that her face is not even shown in the memories. It was a red flag because she quickly made the same with Andrew and Ashley.
Ashley was made 100% more annoying, making her do stupid shit just to make Andrew angry and generate artificial drama. The next one was Andrew, which was made to be an abusive asshole psychopath like those you see in cheap romance novels. An example of this was their interaction when Ashley got detained in school.
Ashley told Andrew to wait her before leaving.
He said he will wait for her, and then went away.
When she arrived home, Leyley got angry (understandably) asking why he didn't wait for her. And Andrew just said he had no reason to do so, when just a few minutes ago we saw him telling Ashley he was going to wait. Is not even a complex scene, but it's written like shit with characters acting straight up retarded for no reason other than generating cheap conflict. At this rate the whole thing is not going to end well.
