It's a recent development by the fact that it happened about 50-60 years ago, but basically union reps just got in bed with government. Virtually all unions will flat out tell you to vote Democrat and hand out pamphlets because a mass majority of them simply rely on government contracts for all of their pay. This is why many people hate unions now. Like you sit in traffic in summer time while the highway (that should have been finished 4 years ago) is still under construction and the guys are all sitting their making $39 a hour and it literally doesnt matter if they break shit, suck at their job, or pave shitty roads because it is almost impossible to fire them.
