The opportunity for MTSU and WKU to get into the MAC has passed, mostly due to MTSU wanting quick and easy money from the exit fees of teams leaving the conference.
Unless something strange happens like the Dakota schools moving to FBS, it looks like MAC expansion is focused on going east rather than south. Though CUSA is marginally better in quality of play than the MAC, I'm surprised Delaware went that way instead of joining the MAC. The regional fit would have been far better than flying out to New Mexico. But maybe the MAC simply didn't want Delaware.
