i used to hang out with a public defender and he said it was completely soul-sucking since every perp absolutely did it, and every case was some lame bullshit like getting caught with half a gram of weed or people contesting parking tickets

so have fun being on the other side of that and prosecuting incredibly lame crimes for incredibly lame people. even if you do catch any "bad guys" they'll invariably be the same four or five methheads who keep getting released on bond

not ethics, and as a DA you would be so far removed from the creation or evaluation of laws from a societal standpoint. low level law is about maintaining consistency, not actually protecting the morality of the nation or dignity of the people
