The absolute state of the job market
>>105686554Yes its the same for anything data (data analysis, data engineering) except data science. Tons of inept Indians who can only open a jupyter notebook and not much besides that. I don't even know why data scientist in the past got paid so much considering their role was rather easy if they didn't do any of the data engineering. But yes anything that comes close to actual operations and live data will not get flooded by Indians, or they will flood but will get rejected. You typically need to interact with stakeholders as well since the way you design systems, the way you make pipelines and so on will heavily impact business users or end users.
>>105687853Ah the job market for juniors is ass. Typically people start leaving these threads once they're beyond 2-3 years of experience and stop really caring about what they're doing. I guess the average age in these threads is 25-27ish.
>>105688329All that roles have been full on india-only for at least 10 years
>>105687853I'm starting a youtube channel. Getting a CS degree was a mistake.
>>105688620>I'm starting a youtube channel. What will it be like? Anime vtuber does tech reviews and begs for work?
>>105688329I regret going into data, every data role posted gets a 1000 jeets smearing poo on it, so the whole process is long and convoluted
Even if I was to get another job in it I get the feeling I'd be surrounded by Indians again (I left my first data role because it was literally like a ratio of 10:1, ended up in a smaller company with an all white team (worked there years but the experience wasn't anything current, but it was nice being around people with the same culture as me))
Wonder if it's worth changing, but what to?
I'd actively avoided DevOps because after eight years of IT Support I was burnt out with dealing with shit going wrong.
And now I've got four years of ERP dev experience.
CyberSec maybe, or is that already getting flooded?
>>105689319cybersec has been a meme for a few years so it's getting quite flooded.
>all software related jobs are moving to india
It has never been more over
>>105689476yep.
even in export controlled fields, for some reason they can get away with it as long as some glowie fuck signs off on it. it's not like software can contain tech data, kek. I mean it can, but extreme doubt.jpg
>>105689319all of those fields are basically the same and are all equally shit. it's pajeet maxxed.
it's over.
your best bet is to try and make what you want to see in the world, but good luck getting funding for it.
>>105688329Lol as an Indian-American who got into this industry by being a jupyter notebook data science jeet, 100% agree.
Data science is a complete horseshit field flooded by jeets who think that they can run an ML pipeline with a shitty scikit SDK in their jupyter notebook.
My last job was being a senior data scientist jeet wrangler and in 2024, I changed jobs and changed my job title to completely avoid that jeet mess.
I go to local tech meetups where a lot of grad students and younger folks getting into the industry ask me "I'm studying data science blah blah- " and immediately cut them off and tell em that data science is fucking useless for 99% of enterprises. What they should be aiming for is being a generalist full stack eng who knows how to get the data from your CRUDshit app into the relational DB and run analytics pipelines on it while not having some dogshit streamlit interface and having something more enterprise friendly (aka learn web dev e.g. React or other frontend webshitter) so that you are NOT the pajeet making plotly diagrams in a fucking notebook
All fields are jeetified but data science is 100% pure jeet because its not impacting prod pipelines most of the time and there's a lot of algorithmic LARPing going on where jeets can pretend to know about the nuances of a tree based boosting algorithm
Fuck me as I'm typing this out at 5:45 AM I'm being brouggt back to my ML data science interview with Apple where some cunty Indian uncle asked me the most retarded impractical algorthmic questions about XGBoost. Fuck data science, fuck that entire field.
I swear I'm not racist I literally have picked up the Indian accent because I've worked with Indians for 15 years and god fuck what's even happening anymore.
>>105689562>and having something more enterprise friendly (I mean producing visualizations that are more enterprise friendly. Data science is full of jeets who create Streamlit interfaces or plotly/seaborn/highcharts diagrams out of the box in notebooks.
Honestly in hindsight data scientists are such incapable retards. My last job had a PhD who took a whole year to write one notebook for a computer vision transcription task and he didn't know how to set up the S3 bucket himself using Textract's async API. All just fucking retards and that guy wasn't even a jeet he was worse. A PhD
>>105689540why? so you can make even less and compete with El Salvadorians and shit?
>>105689573Let me.guess: a MATH PhD
>>105689562also this. data science is a meme. you still need to understand computers and it's likely the data you'll work with will always be the worst case scenario of unworkable dogshit anyway.
>>105689578at least you always have a job and can work outside a major city
>>105689562I'm not sure why you think you're above them, you are the jeet everyone's trying to avoid.
>>105689593>at least you always have a jobnot really. my brother is an iron worker and he still has no work.
my parents got a new roof done and they told me it was all spics.
boomers want lower costs, not a functioning society. there is no real work because no one wants to pay up.
>>105689595jeet is just a swear word, just like kike, nigger and faggot.
racism has no place here.
>>105689615That's why we're calling you a jeet, nigger.
>>105689640not the same poster, I'm white btw.
>>105689642If you were White you wouldn't be standing up for pajeets, not even Canadian open borders shitlibs like them.
>>105689588I think it was a PhD in econometrics. This is what happens for a lot of people who get these meme tier PhDs
>be faggot>want to have nice job >don't have any skills>decide to get PhD so you can claim the diploma firehosed the information into you>get PhD in some quantitative field like econometrics>fintech company like the one I worked at decides econometrics PhDs will help them Add Value To ShareHoldersโข>faggot with econometrics PhD joins fintech company>real word data from ERPs/CRMs are data engineering pipelines are messy as fuck>nothing like academia>none of the priors in academia actually are relevant in the real world, ceteris paribus etc.>also don't know how to work with actual SDKs>somehow this fucking retard got a PhD in econometrics without ever learning to use real world SDKs >spends months setting up the Sagemaker notebook>faggot ends up bothering the team about not being able to set up Textract>it's been months since the PhD has made any progress on this project, what is he doing?>he's been blocked because he can't set up an S3 bucket with Textract's Async APITHIS WAS ALSO LITERALLY IN THE AGE OF CHATGPT. THIS WAS ON A FUCKING TEAM THAT WAS ACTIVELY MAKING A FUCKING LLM WRAPPER

>>105689615>jeet is just a swear wordW R O N G

>woke up
>logged in
>nothing really to do
>still seething and fucking mad over the dumbest shit that happened
>>105689595I am not above them. I am below them. I am the SHVDRA taking on the SILICON VALLEY BRAHMIN MENACE.
>>105689693>woke up>logged in>all of our lower env dbs are offline>DBAs say "still working on it"Okay well idk I'm definitely not going to watch shitty linkedin learning videos.
>>105689589>also this. data science is a meme. you still need to understand computers and it's likely the data you'll work with will always be the worst case scenario of unworkable dogshit anyway. This is exactly why I think data science is retarded - because on paper data scientists are separated from the engineers (software engineers) who set up the application and data engineering pipelines they are sampling the data from to run their shitty scikit-learn ML pipelines anyways.
It makes no sense to me that most organizations think of data scientists as separate from software engineers because I don't understand how you can properly do data science work without knowing the data models and potential data transformations happening in the app's backend.
As a former data scientist in a big corpo (similar to being a former tranny who detransitioned), I just remember feeling so fucking lost because you're silo'd away from the developers who are actively working on the data pipelines and even further away from the guys who actually built the backend's relational data models or even worse the unstructured mongo SHIDDING AND SHARDING clusterfuck
>>105689704Please do the needful and be under a train thank you saar.
>>105689745Detransition baby.

Rejected.>The tool is easy to use and efficient but it's not on dockerhub with data pulled from an s3 bucket. Rejected. Why do I do this to myself, I should have gotten a meme degree to get a cozy do-nothing job like your econometrist.
>>105689733As a fellow datanigger I never had that problem. Was always expected to handle all deployment into prod, all testing and analytics, and all web development as well.
>>105689757>>The tool is easy to use and efficient but it's not on dockerhub with data pulled from an s3 bucket. Rejected. This is pretty sensible, and I can understand why your workplace does this. It's pretty much non-negotiable for people working in enterprise settings to know how containerization and setting up / manipulating cloud resources works.
ITS NON NEGOTIABLE. In the age of chat gippity it's so easy
>>105689768>As a fellow datanigger I never had that problem. Was always expected to handle all deployment into prod, all testing and analytics, and all web development as well.Did you work in a larger company? I was a senior data scientist at a big corpo and I definitely felt silo'd.
I'm now at a startup wearing all the hats and I realize how little I did as a data scientist in terms of work across the stack

Thank god for WFH.

GET A FUCKING TRIP ALREADY
>>105687853I might be coping, but I think it's starting to improve.
Starting a month ago I've been getting noticeably more responses to my applications, and I haven't changed anything other than writing a nicer generic cover letter.
t. 2.5 YoE
>>105690103NTA but please email first then we can call later. the problem is you loop me into a conversation, guess what you don't know what you're talking about, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about so I end up asking you for an email anyways to figure out what the fuck you're saying. Then sometimes you'll say some fucking bullshit, I'll shut you down right there and then a week later you'll be like WHAT ABOUT X???? and I'll be like motherfucker I already told you no.
fuck calls.
>>105690124Nah, I have things to do I'm not stopping what I'm doing and wasting time writing an email when can simply have a call instead while working on something. It's called multitasking. Learn basic communication skills or go back to being a neet and don't enter the real world again.
>>105690152>anon forgot to read the SOP againmaybe go read the fucking SOP instead of bothering me you stupid fucker
8 yoe, 4 big data hadoop, 4 data engineering aws/gcp. Contract is up in a couple of months. Trying to decide if I should make a horizontal jump to something else outside of data. Everything's fucked and I actively hate the work I do every day and the people who flock to this field. I need to buy a laptop, start using it for personal projects, and get excited about tech again like I was not so many years ago.
I can't quit or go too long without a job because I have a small family and a mortgage. Time to figure it out.
>>105690103I'd prefer things stayed in email because then I can protect my ass when you change your mind.
>>105688347Really? I think the average anon here is your 30s disillusioned tech worker that likes shitposting and commiserating.

>>105689666To be completely fair, it's been my experience that AWS resources are tightly controlled by a team with almost no bandwidth. It was really annoying when I needed to make a functioning demo but could only do things locally at best.
But I also do actual work that's not contingent on my not being able to use a random tool
Ahhh another day in the office, sitting on an empty desk, working directly on the laptop they gave me since we don't even have monitors, on a shitty chair, with shit coffee available downstairs

>>105691500I truly believe it.
Also, the fact the Go website has chinese in its Hello World says more than enough.
I'm done.
Corporate and tech culture is the gayest thing Iโve ever experienced
Every part of work has to be jammed into a KPI so some retarded bureaucratic middle manager can optimize a spreadsheet, then make sweeping decisions or lay off thousands. Someone disconnected from the actual WORK itโs like taking orders from a fucking alien.
Every facet of corp culture is soaked in fake "LinkedIn niceness." If you speak up, call out a bullshit meeting, youโre slapped down. Youโre always someoneโs bitch. No respect or prestige despite engineers creating the actual VALUE. And for what? To build worthless software that exists solely to raise stock price? It's meaningless. You have to be a woman, sociopath, or faggot to enjoy it.
Webdev is gay. Stacking abstractions far removed from computer SCIENCE. Gotta crank out commits to hit KPIs. Doesnโt matter if anyone understands the syntax or modules. Just has to compile right?! Hope youโve got 6 years exp in this JS trend that'll be obsolete as techfags trend hop. No time build actual mastery. Fuck NPM fuck AWS and fuck JavaScript
Outsourcing is pure greed. Jeet culture is 3rd world garbage. Saving face is more important than truth. Comprehending their pidgin English is often harder than the actual work. Why are we importing this? Why is a 3rd of my company speaking Tamil?
Millennial coworkers are gay. Stop showing up in hoodies and tshirts. You earn more than 95% of the country, act like a professional. No I don't want to talk about vidya, minifigs, or F1 all the time. Why do none of you have families?
Iโm done. Iโm going to law school to be a PD or DA. It's a pay cut and more (((debt))). But at least law is REAL, something rooted in shit like philosophy and ethics. At least I won't be corporate cog bottom-rung bitch. Iโll have some actual professional prestige. And most importantly, it's MEANINGFUL: I'll be helping people or locking up criminals. Iโll take that over Jeets and JS Jengatower slop
Fuck
>>105691661FUCK YEAH GET OUT OF THERE IM CHEERING FOR YOU MAN
>>105691661You are into something but you lost me halfway through.
First, I'm no millenial, but I'll dress however I want, and if you don't like it then go ahead and fire me, this is not a model agency.
Second
>But at least law is REAL, something rooted in shit like philosophy and ethics. You never had any job in another field right?
You will be someone's bitch anywhere you go. Any responsibility or fancy position is just an excuse to use you as a lightning rod. You'll do what you are told, when you are told.
Yeah, I really don't like synchronous style communication. Just feels like a lot of "GOTCHA" shit, I'm so tired of getting caught off guard bros....
>>105691799I've been ignoring every task I don't recieve as a ticket for months.
I'm also very organized so I remember everything I do so if someone asks "Where's X feature we "told" that had to be done?" I just reply "Where's the ticket?".
This usually ends with my boss's face contorting into an ape-like, almost mentally retarded expression.
>>105691821Yeah this department is a fucking mess. I'll just randomly get looped into things and suddenly it's like "ANON YOU HAVE TO FIND THE SOLUTION AND THIS IS HIGH RISK HIGH IMPACT" and I'll just be like "wtf". Very old style shit and I'm not even sure what is the proper format for this fucking shit. My old boss used to handle this but he pretty much did everything and didn't delegate shit.
No seriously, can someone make me understand the proper way these types of stuff needs to be done because I'm genuinely confused on how badly fucked I'm getting.
>>105691870I GET THAT MAN BUT IM JUST WONDERING WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS THE BARE MINIMUM ANYMORE
>>105691885The bare minimum is being a fullstack engineer, listening to Indians, and keeping up with the latest JavaScript-slop and cloud-slop at all times.
>>105691902For me it's being just frontend. For some unholy reason literally everyone sucks at CSS and can't do basic JS for shit anymore.
>>105691790>First, I'm no millenial, but I'll dress however I want, and if you don't like it then go ahead and fire me, this is not a model agency. The dress code shit is a pet peeve so I'll conseed that.
>You will be someone's bitch anywhere you go. Any responsibility or fancy position is just an excuse to use you as a lightning rod. You'll do what you are told, when you are told.DAs and PDs generally have a large degree of autonomy and independence. You get your cases and you work on them independently. If it's a large case, a senior attorney will lead it and other people will collaborate. Some prosecutor offices have conviction rate quotas, but that's generally on the way out. Your main obligation is towards the PD or DA office as a civil servant, not a worthless middle manager. You guys are all working managing the same case load and working with the courts, not directly beholden to a micromanaging supervisor who's detached from the actual work
They're roles that are mission-driven and ethically grounded, not driven by gay corporate profits. DA and PD positions come with substantial autonomy for the actual legal work. And they have way more stability and respect due to being a real fucking profession not focused optimizing profits for some billion dollar business.
>>105691661>Iโm done. Iโm going to law school to be a PD or DA. It's a pay cut and more (((debt))). But at least law is REAL, something rooted in shit like philosophy and ethics. t. wife and inlaws are lawyers
>>105692034Because everyone outsources the fundamentals in JS and CSS (aka the actual hard stuff) to modules and frameworks. They do the hard work for everyone.
Like the wagie rant above said, it's a jenga of abstractions
>>105692067What speciality do they work in? Law has a wide range. Bjglaw work culture is corporate gayness and cven more cancerous than tech.
>>105691341it's literally not

>>105692057>DAs and PDs generally have a large degree of autonomy and independence.holy shit lmao
>>105692102>holy shit lmaoYou literally manage trials. Once trained, you exercise fucking broad discretion over charging people or defense strategy. You have tons of day-to-day autonomy. You're only bounded by ethics rules and minor office policies (i.e. senior attorneys get the big cases). If you're a department head you have to buttheads with politicians sometimes, but that's end-stage career stuff, if you even choose to go that far.
>>105692165bro are you not aware that there are not just higher courts, but that lawyers argue based on legal precedent and not "ethics rules" or "minor office policies"
>>105691661> Why do none of you have families?Autism + not liked by women. The millenials with families who work in this field are 1000x worse.
> law is REAL You'll be corporate cog bottom-rung bitch since big law pays their lawyers maybe 1/6th of the value they add to the company at best. You'll encounter the the type of cringe fake suits, fake prestige havers that are insufferable. It's why I don't like to work for consultancies, a lot of them have these pretentious assholes walking around thinking they're important being detached for 200 euros an hour while they make like 35 an hour. Truly insufferable and worse than the Indian menace in software.
> locking up criminalsThat part of the law pays the least.
>>105692094>do they work in?lets assume they have friends whom also work in law and just within this family alone they work in several industries. You are looking for holes in a field you know nothing about and wont just take my lol word. There is real estate commercial law, family law , and big law. In addition to all this I know a dude that has law degree and IT experience doing security/law for oil and gas company that is huge. His job sucks, the lady that works the largest law firm in the world it sucks, the real estate lawyer it also sucks and they are a partner at their firm. You also have no idea how much knowing people and corruption there is in law. Your entire practice can be based just on how a judge rules in a county, are they for or against debtors. There is bankruptcy law and all the shit that surrounds that. But nah, fuck me im sure there's an amazing law job out there like on Boston Legal and you will have all the respect of your peers. These people with law jobs have been previously, cops, IT directors, owned their own firms that spanned an entire state. They have left big law to do smaller orgs and "meaningful" work. It all sucks. Stop looking for a job to fulfill you, because its not ever going to.
>>105692165Yes, and then the local sherriff flops his BWC out on your desk because one of your cases (an unpaid 200$ ticket) is akshually in his jurisdiction, not the municipality's.

You're not writing laws in trial-level work obviously. Doesn't mean common law isn't deeply tied to ethics and societal norms. You're directly interfacing with people's constitutional rights. >>105692624All aspects of Indian "English" make me want to drive a nail through my skull:
>The fast-paced singsong speech>The constant interrupting>The thick accentsand most importantly
>The scatterbrained way they communicate ideas. They rapidly move through subjects, talk about them on a surface level, and then expect you to derive the structure and requirements for a given task out of their gobbledygook puddle of speech. And they expect you to have (or pretend to have) an in-depth understanding of that same subject the very next day, regardless of its scope. That, or the previously super important task they blitzed through yesterday is just never mentioned again.
It's not just tech. My wife is a med student and had a Pajeeta preceptor. Exact same shit: Pajeeta had a thick accent that was hard to understand (despite being in the US for years). And she rapidly danced through tons of material before giving my wife a vague reading assignment like "study endocrinology and present about it tomorrow". And sometimes it was never brought up again. Other times, the preceptor was dissappointing my wife's presentation didn't focus on their one specific element the Pajeeta obviously was talked about and wanted you to focus on. I.e., she blitzed through it and it blended in with the 1000 other subjects coming out of her mouth each second. Meanwhile every other normal preceptor my wife had just told student to read about something specific and helpful for the take home material. Like a certain type of heart condition. And they even provided direct links to the research papers/textbook chapters they wanted students to read.

>>105689562It sucks being one of the few competent Indians but yes I recognize everything you say. "Data science" as advertized, i.e. ML engineering is completely useless for the vast majority of companies. The companies where it is useful require you to have publications and preferably a phd. The spots are very competitive.
Doing data wrangling and backend engineering on a database is more lucrative than data science currently is. Except you need to learn a whole lot more to be proficient in that. Honestly knowing about machine learning is a nice-to-have at most companies. If you go into data analysis having a solid grasp of dashboarding, databases, data warehouses, making data pipelines and basic statistics is everything you need. I've only once been asked about something involving machine learning in 5 years of working and it was a small proof of concept about synthetic data. Basic statistical knowledge about distributions, how to interpret company data, how to interpret use cases, how statistical testing / means comparisons work will be far more important than machine learning.

Is R&D Software Engineering a good field to settle in? All of my jobs since I graduated from my maths and cs degree has been for this sort of work, I enjoy it a lot and it pays pretty well too compared to other SWE jobs. This has been pure accident too, these places always give me interviews and they always offer better TC than the shitholes that wants me to work on their enterprise software
Anyway, I feel kinda isolated from the rest of the SWEing world, I've learned a bit about about tangential fields like physics and electronics engineering, but I feel most of the software that I've written has been pretty basic in terms of technologies used. Kinda worried that I won't be able to pick up a "normal" software engineering job without taking a big paycut if I don't switch over soon.

Okay, Im beyond angry. I'm pretty sure I just took an assessment that is the equivalent of a humiliation ritual.
I did an automatic online assessment from Capital One. They give me one hour to do four problems. Four problems in one hour. I also have to set up my camera and share my screen. No biggie.
The first function was easy. So easy that I forgot what the problem was. The second problem, they ramped it up and Im starting to wonder if this problem was written by jeets. I had to do some drone problem where you walk to a number of stations, it can only go a certain amount, and calculate total amount of dist you take in units on foot. But then I realized I didnt understand the problem correctly, and the drone can go past the charging stations, so I had to rewrite it and already used up 15 minutes of planning. I didnt past all the test cases and remember, Im at 35 mins to go.
On to the third problem. This one was absolutely made to humiliate you. Take a string[][] of paragraph of words, place them into a string[], but you have to newline any word that exceeds the max width per line. Btw, add decoration of asterisks around it and pad each line into a center alignment.
As you can see, I didn't even finish this one in time. And the four problem was skipped cause I only had 3 minutes left. And it was a mountain view problem with finding the minimum difference between peaks, blah, blah blah.
Fuck these assessments.

You deliver a project over the course of 6 months to a year. Around the 3 month mark you'll have a pilot targeting some subset of the data as a test. Around the 6 month-1 year mark the project is fully functional. Around the 2 year mark, people realize that the issue it was meant to solve wasn't truly solved, so they come up with a new take on solving the problem that is a totally different solution than the original project. Hence, it gets killed.

โThe Aryans in India were too late in establishing their colourโbased caste system, so that today the culture of the Hindoo is probably the most thoroughly repulsive on our planet. The more one learns about India, the more one wants to vomit. Aside from a few profound minds, the Indian people represent such an abyss of degeneracy that extirpation & fumigation would seem to be about the only way to make Hindoostan fit for decent people to inhabit.โ
โH.P.Lovecraft, letter to J.Vernon Shea, 25September1933
I work remote and I want to move to NYC or San Francisco. I want to experience living in a big city. Which one should I go for?
On one hand, I want to eventually get a job in big tech/the bay area, so maybe moving to SF would help me network. It's also marginally cheaper, and the weather/nature is much better.
On the other hand, NYC is the most "big city" big city in the world. There's much more art/culture, there are way more things to do, the dating scene is much, MUCH better, almost incomparably so. And the food is cheaper and better. And it's much more of a 24 hour city. And I may never have to opportunity to live in NYC again.
>>105695225Install the OS they tell you to install, tardo. I would expect a MSfag or an OSXfag to get used to unix if they're using that too.
I applied to some customer/tech support job and I have some AI interview thrown at me. I didn't know people live like this, are there any tips for dealing with Sapia AI, or should I treat this like a regular job interview?
>>105696824i just hang up when i realize it's an ai interview
>>105696858The interview is online with no time limit, so the only relevant thing I can hang right now is my neck
>>105696724come to nyc, move to brooklyn
>>105696724A few points. NYC has less of a tech presence than the San Francisco Bay area generally speaking. But the city of San Francisco itself is moreso startups (also "startups" with hundreds of millions in funding, not just talking about startups startups) whereas FAGMAN and other large companies tend to be more spread out through the south bay up to an hour or more outside of SF, e.g. Meta, Google, Netflix, Apple. Living in south bay outside of SF isn't interesting, it's pretty suburban. Big tech does have a presence in NYC but less so than the bay area or Seattle, in general. Btw don't come to Seattle, it really sucks. I've lived in both Seattle and south bay and neither are exciting or interesting in the slightest except you'll see a lot of Teslas, chinks, and jeets.
>>105696866>with no time limitNot having a time limit doesn't mean that time taken isn't judged.
>>105696960Oh, and I wouldn't move to these areas unless and until I got a job there. It's just not that exciting, champ.
>>105696921Downtown Brooklyn? Seems like studio pods in the general vicinity are $1600-1700 which isn't too bad. I've been checking online and it seems like similar apartments in Manhattan are smaller/shittier or $2k+. Not sure if that tradeoff is worth it.
>>105696960>>105696967My plan is to move somewhere for 2-3 years, build experience, then apply/beg for a big tech job in the bay area.
I do not want to spend the next 2-3 years of my life living where I do now. I've already wasted enough time.
I'm so fucking tired of being on the phone with people who I can barely understand.
>>105697047needful status?
>>105696961That's also very true, that's a great call, thank you. I'll maybe do it all tomorrow, I'm waiting for feedback/advice beforehand, but I'm hoping to get through all of the questions soon. There seem to be quite a few vids by and for pajeets for this specific company and its questions though. So either that's a great sign that this is passable, or that it's a bad sign that I'll have 50 competitors who look great on paper
>>105697039I will say I really enjoy the weather and my lifestyle (if I didn't have this stressful job to deal with) in the bay. It's modern, chill, and there's some pretty good outdoorsy/hiking destinations in the vicinity or even just a 15 minute car ride from where I live. Just a shame a starter home costs $1.2 million+ so I don't plan on staying here for more than another 5 years or so
>>105697092>1.2 million+Edit: closer to 2 million+ where I live, I literally can't find anything cheaper but then I also live in prime big tech worker living territory
>>105697039not downtown brooklyn. bedstuy, bushwick, williamsburg, greenpoint. you can prolly get a studio in bushwick for 1.7k. if you want a 1bedroom at that price, you'll need a roommate
>>105697104I don't know why people like to exaggerate like this. You know anyone can open up zillow, right?
>>105695225Wait, so they're forcing you to bring your own device and at the same time making demands of what OS you run? Fucking lol.
>>105697172I don't need a 1br but damn, I can't find any apartments in those places in that price range.
>>105697247ye you'll prolly need 1 roommate at least for a $1600 budget
>>105697195Yeah, that's what I'm basing it on.

I regularly run around the neighborhood and pull up random houses on Zillow. I haven't found a single one below 2 million and I've probably checked around 30 so far
>>105695230It'a fake. The white people have to work 12 hours a day. The H1Bs too. Trannies, niggers and w*men (i.e. dicersity hires) only need to exist and do nothing all day though.

Have you ever been drinking while working from home?
I think I'll try it. Maybe will make the work day more fun.

>>105698264Don't tell the boss but I drink water while in the office too.

i used justicemap.org to pick one that was far from... nonwhite people
i've been here for 3 years now, working remote on an acre of land on whats meant to be the home i die in (i hate moving)
i just started an orchard, which i will keep expanding upon. A few days ago i picked like, 4 cups of blackberries; nothing planted, there are just wild patches on the property
>>105698438>homes around me are in the 200k-450k rangeoh and by this, i mean for the properties im interested in that have a good amount of land. you can easily get a house for cheaper if you dont want the land. im a 30 min drive from the middle of the city (population: 300k)

>>105698447>racebaitingstating i used a website to plan my permanent residence based of ethnic demographics isnt "racebaiting"; i made no attacks or accusations on the basis of race

>>105698447You're welcome to go back to r*ddit where talk of wanting to avoid different races is banned.

>>105698475according to the definition of "race-baiting" by merriam-webster, i did not engage in race-baiting

It can get even worse:
> have a company outlook mail without my origin prefix ("de" in front of last name)> New IT guy who had previous experience working in .... a supermarket as checkout clerk thought it would be great to include the prefix > multiple authenticators stop working, multiple services including HR systems are inaccessible , some stuff I didn't even know about like company phone was tied to the old mail > Supermarket employee gets laid off during probation since he gets into conflicts with manager (not because he's actually shit) > Am left to fix all of the password clusterfucks myself over a period of 1-2 months and still sometimes encounter problems where things have been set up with the old mail Never change people their mails even if it includes a spelling error because this shit has been insufferable. I lost a company phone recently and was unable to locate it since the location services were tied to the old email address.
>>105698438Same am probably going to live remotely somewhere in Germoney. I got 150k euros saved up working the last 3 years (living with parents). It should be enough to buy something remotely and get an affordable mortgage. I just have a relationship and Idk what to do with it. If I include the money from the other side its more like 400-500k to spend on housing but I'm not sure if I want to tie all my luck onto the BPD case that I decided to date 5 years ago.

>>105699503Is this a Drowning Pool reference?
I think it's over for me. These email rejections are demotivating as fuck. I'm a senior engineer who can't even get a job, and the few interviews I got, they are either slow or haven't gotten back to me. And with my increasing gap, they'll think something is wrong with me that I've been out of the job market this long.
>>105699943How long is the gap?
If you're worried about questions on what you're doing, then start a side project that you're "working on" turning into a business. You just have to register a domain and put up a landing page. The project/idea isn't that important, but you should be able to talk about something you're learning from it.
>>1056999826 months.I'm working on a project atm and keeping my study up with some books, so I at least got that going. I also have my own website of stuff. I just think my city "Dallas" is dead for engineering jobs. But with all the indians around, it makes sense. I think I'll have to move for new work.
>>105700086I was unemployed for 14 months, so it's not over. But, I do live in a more tech-centric area so that probably helped.
