The fact we have footage of Secretariat also helps. Kincsem I have no doubt was a real horse, but she was also a filly. Definetly a talented horse, but I could never see her winning against Man o' War let alone a modern day G2 horse. Plus like over half her wins were against 1 to 2 horses if I remeber right.

No worries anon, I know too much about American horse racing and this only scratches the surface lol. My guess it that in Japanese racing, they like to have their favorites re-enter and the pool of horses they can actual draw from being smaller because the sport beign relativly young compared to in America they were not as strict when setting the limits on the races. It definetly allows for better storylines and legacies to be written, like Mejiro McQueen going for three Tenno Sho's in a row. But to put into perspective you can watch Secretariats Belmont run, I have never seen a run like this in my entire life and I grew up at the track. These horses in the field were premium Grade 1 horses, so just to even enter this race you had to be quite the horse.
