once you see some of the upgrades to classes like rogue reliable talent moved up, cunning strikes, the fighter buffs, and Ritual casting for all casters, it's hard not to beg your dm to go for it.

We basically said that you can mix and match the old and the new how you wish with classes and spells, but we haven't bothered to implement new spellcasting rules of only one leveled spell per turn and all that.
