One Palestinian developed a passive solar still to address the crisis.

These are entirely solar powered and use the heat of the sun to distill water and produce sea salt as a byproduct.

Such stills can be built very cheaply in arid regions with saltwater access and the byproduct is marketable as well, sea salt commands a good price.

The ocean also provides an alternative source for lithium used in battery production, an industry mired in political conflict and exploitation.
