One of those situations where it pays to have a spare pistol in .40 S&W, since that caliber is usually less affected by these events.

Because of how magazine safety disconnects work, fundamentally it must be something which interacts with the trigger, blocking it unless the magazine is inserted and pressing the block out of the way so it doesn't block the trigger.

You could probably engineer a better disconnect which has less effect on the trigger than say, the Hi-Power, but it's still gonna be there somehow.
