What confuses men is how good these women can look in pictures or with flattering clothing. They assume that if a woman inspires lust, she must be well above a 5, and thus unobtainable for an average man. This just isn't the case. Women have spent thousands of years trying to augment their looks, and in today's current age spend their entire lives from the age of 13 onwards using camera angles, makeup, flattering clothing, etc to make themselves look better. In fact: the ones with the most busted or average of faces go the hardest to look like fuck dolls on instagram, because they know that's what it takes to make them look appealing.
