The most loud, vacuous, narcissistic tard moron that I personally know has decided to become a Vtuber and I've been pondering this ever since. There's nothing interesting about this guy. Apart from a personality slightly too large for the rather small rooms he inhabits and an ability to redirect all productive conversations back to himself there really isn't anything interesting about this guy. He just commissioned an anime girl avatar for himself and went to town.
I think 95% of the people in the gaming youtube space (Probably Vtubing too) are boring humans with nothing of substance to say on any topic. They've never had original thoughts in their lives and just want to sit infront of an audience, play whatever slop, say "That's crazy chat" every half hour or so and expect accolates and or pats on the ass for doing so. Why? Because they've fallen in love with the IDEA of living someone elses life but never stopped once to think about the reality of it.
People are lonely. But they aren't THAT lonely. There are a hundred trillion million narcissists on youtube who are doing this. If you're going to show up at the table, how are you any different? What do you bring to the table that's fresh or unique? What is, as a suit would say, "Your Unique Selling Point?"
Even then. If there WERE someone who was so irrepressably unique and brilliant that they deserved their following, how would they gain a following in this meta, I wonder? Youtubes algos don't reward uniqueness. They reward conformity and expect you to churn slop in the content creator kowloon with all the other nobodies. This is the part I haven't figured out yet.
