Most of the examples I have worth discussing come from Brazil, but Im eager to learn about lines from other corners of the globe.

Brazillian toy company Gulliver Brinquedos has a long history in the domestic market from what I gather. It was founded sometime in the 1960's by a Spanish entrepeneur and kept chugging along into the modern day. Like Brazil's other major domestic toy companys prior to opening up to global trade, Gulliver made a killing in localizing American and European toys. Their biggest success coming from the localization of Diamond Toy Makers' 4' Commando range, rebranded as "S.O.S. Commandos". Early on it ditched any ties to the Schwarzenegger film, eventually including Rambo in the line, and then continuing from then all the way until 2011. Towards the end of the 90's the commandos began to incorporate molds from both Chap Mei and Lanard Toys. Not just for the vehicles and weapons, but even the figures themselves. Often frankensteining together parts to make new characters.
