Literally how. Japan had no chance in hell of ever making a nuke, whereas the US could keep making the damn things. How the hell do you fight a nation who was the sole owner of nukes, had the capacity to use them, a president who was happy to use them, and no international pressure to not use such things as no one even knew what the hell they even were at the point. Even documentaries I watched with my father even had some of the most headstrong, nippon strong generals go "Guys I think we're fucked" (probably before they were executed but still)
