I'm not reading all that shit but cave system is an improvement at least considering being automatically generated for random maps. It's more visually comprehensible being on multiple layers and allows for other layers being added too without making everything a 1 plane clusterfuck.

Could you functionally make something similar in the previous games? Yea, but it was always a custom edit, work intensive and not possible in random map gen.
