Yeah, it was probably a small sacrifice to keep the episode more focused, but I still wished it was handled differently to be slightly more organic. As nitpicky as that sounds. Comedy and simplicity should take the focus in a kids show like this, imo, and I think this show is definitely delivering on the comedy and snappy timing. It's made me laugh several times with its writing and exaggerated faces/animation style already.
But another reason why I like this show is because it's clearly trying to have some "heart" in its writing, which is showcased really well right from the first episode. How Jack really idolizes his biological mom, how Lily and Jack don't act close at first since they still don't know each other that well, how Lily's parents are well-meaning but are actually pretty careless and flawed, etc.. I'm actually enjoying the entire Wylde Pak family and how they all get multiple interactions with each other on average. I guess I was just hoping to see that get extended to the side characters as soon as we were introduced to them, but we might have to wait and see how much screen time they get.
