That's is a decent idea, but the other problem with regulation is that there needs to be a government agency that enforces it and that's something else tax money is going to and can be targeted, defunded, and made inept.
The penultimate solution is to make lobbying illegal(this: >>713548662) so corporations don't have to commit bribery to compete and the ultimate objective should be to defang the government entirely so they no longer have the power to choose winners and losers in the market.
HOWEVER, I'm a pragmatist, and while I object to regulation from a principled perspective, the world we live in is such that these game mechanics do exist and the only way to protect our rights currently are to levy the system against itself. So I'm 100% behind certain consumer protection laws like Stop Killing Games.
I think Europeans should also be aware of this subtle distinction between regulations introduced by lobbying and those that are earnestly trying to defend your rights. You guys are too smug about food safety regulations and forcing Apple to use USB-C and you will be caught lacking on other issues.

I've been writing a server in Python to deal with some market-related datasets. One of the guys I respect at work, a real entrepreneur who's pulled of some nice side-hustles, was decrying the use of things like Rust, Golang, and other niche languages instead of just using Python, so I thought'd I'd give the danger snake another shot.
It's not so bad. The language kind of feels like a mess that's pretending to be shell script and there's a few too many implicit behaviors, but looking past that I've been able to get some stuff done pretty quickly.
