I keep hearing the argument from pro Ukraine people that the Russian troops are mercenaries, there only for the money and it got me thinking, wouldn't that make literally any army with professional soldiers that get paid a normal salary - mercenaries?
Anyone can make up excuses that they are there for their country etc. but at the end of the day 99.99% would leave if they weren't getting paid.
So I ask you /pol/, are professional armies mercs?
