Honestly they're still stuck in the 90s but even more sanitized, you can see it in anime like yugioh and pokemon where Tv Tokyo have too much power on the anime production committee and too much creative control. Completely bland and nonoffensive cartoons. And it's been like that for like decades. No way they're making those other properties popular with their kind of directon.
