yeah it's called toobless and it makes retrogrouches and batavophiles seethe. the only thing is you should not toobless on anything less than 32mm tires, and you should not toobless if you are not riding regularly (because it clumps up otherwise) and in theory flats are catastrophic (but they become incredibly rare so it shouldn't be an issue for most people). you'll hear a lot of dumb nonsense about how "hookless is not for road" from the same people bitching that rim brakes suck and everyone should ride 700x19, needless to say do not listen to these people

the one thing I will say is vulcanized is mandatory, there are some "open tublar" types that are theoretically ok for tubeless but they are too shapeless to mount without headaches, and I wouldn't want to see what happens with them if they lose pressure
