They made all base mechs free and unlockable, guaranteed future ones will be grindable, and booted mods out of the nonshit gamemodes, so I'm more than fine with it. I'd rather have expensive cosmetics than grindable cosmetics with actual gameplay locked behind a paywall.

I don't see the problem. Why become a mindless consumer like everybody else. I only buy something if it breaks or I want to run/use something my current hardware doesn't support.
