Nitpicking, or maybe not, but you keep repeating that 40-year figure, which refers to the time she spent in the cult, not the time from which she was deemed capable enough to spread the message of Shar. One can reasonably assume she didn't start drinking the Kool-Aid - let alone being sent on missions - at the prime age of 8, and that she resisted indoctrination for a long time.

Maybe it makes no difference whatsoever where she lands on the alignment grid, whether she was an active agent for 40 or 20 years, but her present-day reluctance to commit truly evil acts casts a shadow (no pun intended) on the idea she was always a hardcore, aspiring Dark Justiciar at heart. It almost seems as if she's thinking, "I want to be recognized by mommy Shar!" rather than, "I want to usher the world into pure darkness and kill as many Selûnites as I can."
