I think RiD did a great job of being what it was. It wasn't too graphic, or edgy or tried to be a serious drama for serious adult children
It had many weak points, but between it and Rescue Bots/Academy, it knew what it wanted to be.
A silly robot show for children that adults could find humor in without it being overbearing.
I think it's the tone TF should stick with. Budget animation that's still nice to look at. I think CGI and 2D both work well as long as the characters look good. People had problems with Bumblebee's design and I get it, but I think the whole cast made great 2D to real life because of how bright and intentionally plastic everything looks. Top tier voice acting without breaking the bank on The Rock. And more than anything, you don't have to watch G1 to 'get' it.
