The sky above Elbaph burned gold as the sun dipped low. Brogy sat at the cliff’s edge, legs like tree trunks hanging over the sea, chewing thoughtfully on roasted devilback ribs.
A sharp thud hit his calf.
“Ow?” he muttered, peering down.
Ulti stood there, fists clenched, cheeks puffed. “You left me behind again, you oaf!”
Brogy chuckled, setting the ribs aside. “You found me, didn’t you, GABABABABA?”
“I shouldn’t have to chase you across half the island just for dinner!”
He held up a wrapped rib, still warm. “I saved you one.”
She snatched it, biting aggressively—but her expression softened. “Extra spicy…”
“Told you I remembered, GABABABABA.”
She glanced up, eyes meeting his. “You’re still the worst.”
Brogy leaned down, resting his huge hand beside her. “Yet you keep coming back.”
Ulti looked away, blushing. “Maybe I like yelling at you.”
He smiled. “Maybe I like being yelled at.”
Silence stretched between them, the sea wind tugging at her long hair. Brogy’s eyes lingered on her face—not just her fire, but the way her lips curved when she wasn’t trying to look angry.
“You're not gonna say anything dumb, are you?” she asked quietly.
“I was thinking…” He lowered his voice. “If I leaned in right now…”
Ulti rose on tiptoe, grabbed the edge of his beard, and yanked his face closer. “Then stop thinking.”
Their lips met—his gentle, hers fierce. For a heartbeat, Elbaph stood still.
When they parted, she smirked. “Next time you leave without me, I’ll headbutt your heart.”
Brogy grinned. “Guess I better never leave"
