Since I shat on the anime I'll show one of the best examples of why it's such a betrayal of the manga

Pic related is the first Gotenks vs Buu gag. It's a simple, but effective joke, which relies entirely on the instant loss in the second page.
The anime showed Gotenks fighting Buu and getting beaten up, then had him come back. Joke is ruined, just so they could milk more content and avoid catching up to the manga.
