It doesn't even do that. The reason why religious groups in America have higher birthrates is because of less female education and living in more homogenous communities. Female education is the single largest contributor to TFR decline anywhere in the world. Muh Christianity/orthodox Judaism is a stupid cope that ignores that TFRs started plunging in Europe in the last 19th century coinciding with the start of female suffrage.
