Because the only slot that is missing from the evil party is a thief, and I don't like dual classing in 2nd edition, makes the toon too powerful. Specially in BG2, where you can do it right away and regain your skills almost immediately.
I also dislike a 6 man party in real time with pause, 4 is the max I can handle comfortably.
