It's always nice to hear a woman say this. I've heard a lot of women say something similar in my life, that they can empathize, that I matter, that I should have more confidence, etc. The fundamental problem is that, even though your empathy is very nice and heartwarming, I'm still very unattractive and neither you nor any woman I know is interested in me romantically. You're okay with being a friend, but not a lover. Women will always pity me, sure, but they will never really love me. Such is my fate for being born with the wrong genes.
