I never really looked at this song from the valley girl perspective. For me, Bitchin' in the Kitchen is purely a piss take on consumerism. Zappa's Valley Girl came out the following summer so it's must've been a popular topic for satire during that period.
Fun fact: this number originally took place in their kitchen; this was tweaked when the film went from filming in real-life Denton, Texas to a soundstage in London due to Hollywood strikes at the time. Personally, I think shooting it this way would've been more effective but I'm not complaining.
