Palworld and Pokemon are not the same type of game, though. Palworld isn't even pretending to be a pokemon game instead of a full-on ark clone, it's really just taking the aesthetics of it and stuffing it into Craftopia.
Pokemon fans want the slow, easy-going pace of Pokemon games where time seems to stop when the player stops advancing, nothing really has any stakes, and the biggest inconvenience is having to go back to the last Pokemon center.
If they made a Pokemon game that combined elements of Animal Crossing into it, visiting a town, doing chores, setting up camps, owning a home, that game would sell trillions. It's what I think they want to do with Legends Z-X but nothing has really indicated that they have a clear vision or goal on how to accomplish that. Instead, opting for lots of set-pieces which may connect into the whole.
