I felt that too, when I realized everyone just does their rotation. But there's strategy to knowing when to use your class skills and how to play your role. Everyone mostly is pressing 1-2-3, but then there'as the mechanics of their class that makes things different. Like with Black Mage, the strategy is to cast fire and get astral sun. While you have astral sun, fire does more damage but cost more mp. However your next ice spell is free, at reduced damage. When you're out of mp you cast ice spells and get umbral moon. When you're under umbral moon, ice spells are free and recover MP, and your next fire spell is free at reduced damage. When you gain or switch phases, you can cast thunder; Which hits with lightning strikes overtime. There's also a spell called Transpose. It lets you flip phases without having to deplete it and build it up again.

The game is tedious though. Especially if you have to catch up on the main story. The journey is what sucks you in though. When you have to run back and forth from town to town, you get to see all the small details. Having a bar in the middle of the desert, full of people is something memorable. Also the guilds, customization and endgame raids. I feel so satisfied customizing my HUD and glamours.
